Good Stuff to Know
From September through May (the first Sunday after Labor Day weekend through the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend) worship begins at 11:00 a.m. During the summer (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend), we worship at 10:00 a.m. There are three doors to the sanctuary—one facing Walton Ave., one facing the grassy area, and one that opens onto the brick archway.
WHAT TO WEAR
We have no dress code. Whether you are dressed formally or informally, God welcomes you, and so do we.
WE SING A LOT
Our worship includes music from a variety of traditions and countries, including American Sign Language during the singing of the “Gloria.” Please feel free to join in or listen in—whatever makes you comfortable. If you’d like to sing in the choir, you’re welcome to! Check out the details about practice times on our Music Ministry page.
CHILDREN AND WORSHIP
Children are always welcome to worship with us! In the sanctuary we have a children’s worship area (at the front on the right side), fondly known as “the mosh pit,” stocked with crayons and supplies for quiet activity during the worship hour. Parents may sit in the pews nearby to supervise and engage their children in worship. Or children may sit with their family in the pews—wherever is most comfortable for them and their parents. We encourage school age children (kindergarten and above) to worship with us.
We have two nurseries for infants/toddlers and preschoolers (birth – Age 5.) You’ll find them by entering the Education Building from the brick archway and going to the first two doors on your right. Pagers will be given to parents so that the nursery staff can easily notify parents during worship, if a need arises.
During the months when we worship at 11:00 AM (see “worship” above), we hold classes for adults and children of all ages beginning at 9:30 AM. In the Education Building you’ll find a list of classes and the rooms where they’re happening. Check our Sunday School page for updates.
In addition to street parking along Walton and Seminary Avenues, we have a large paved lot behind the church. You can access the lot from Walton Ave. (near the corner of Chamberlayne Ave.) or from Seminary Ave. (you can’t see the lot from Seminary Ave., but the driveway that hugs the north side of the Education Building will get you to it). Overflow parking is available in our grassy lot at the corner of Walton Ave. and Brook Road.
PARKING FOR THE MOBILITY IMPAIRED
In the paved lot behind the church, the spaces closest to the brick archway are designated “Handicapped Parking.” You’ll find a covered drive-through where folks with mobility issues may exit cars and access the brick archway without getting wet in the rain. Please allow passengers to exit, then pull through and park so that others may use the drive-through.
The office is located in our Education Building along the hallway closest to Seminary Avenue. The entrance is on the corner of Walton and Seminary Avenues, facing Walton. The office is open:
- Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
