Weddings at GPPC

Weddings

The commitment to a life-long union is profound and precious.  If you are preparing to make this commitment and are interested in being married at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church, the following information will help to answer some of the more commonly asked questions. For more information, contact Roxanne Mucklow at 804-359-5049 or rmucklow.gppc@comcast.net.

WHO MAY BE MARRIED AT GPPC?
It is not necessary to be a member of the congregation, or to be a Presbyterian, to be married here. Nevertheless, a marriage in the church is different from a ceremony that takes place at City Hall or another location. We expect that couples who come here seeking God's blessing on their relationship will be open to a discussion of the spiritual nature of that relationship and the place of God in their lives.

WHO MAY OFFICIATE?
The Pastor of GPPC normally officiates at all weddings.  At the request of the couple and with the agreement of the pastor, another pastor may be invited to assist or officiate.

SCHEDULING
Before a date can be placed on the church calendar, couples must review the more detailed church wedding policies, complete an application form, and meet with the pastor.

PREMARITAL COUNSELING
It is expected that all couples, both members and non-members, will participate in premarital counseling with a pastor.

MUSIC
It is expected that the director of music of GPPC will play the organ or piano for all wedding ceremonies.  In the event that the director is unable or the couple has valid reasons for inviting another musician, the guest musician must be approved by the director of music.  All of the music for the wedding must be approved by the director of music, including that of vocal soloists and other instrumentalists.
