Sixth in a Series

In worship on May 3, Carla asked a few church family members to share the meaning they were finding in Easter. She liked what was said enough to suggest we publish the reflections here. We’re posting one each day.

I have heard many times in my life that we are resurrection people. Where did I hear that? Maybe in Sunday school because I had great Sunday school teachers. Maybe it was in a sermon, because I have heard many great Presbyterian sermons in my life.  Or maybe it was from B Lewis. Some of you knew her.  I think she was about this tall, but she was a powerhouse. I heard her say that a few times. So from that reflection, let’s see where we go.

I see Easter as Jesus Christ’s incredible gift to all believers. As he willingly allowed himself to suffer and die in our place.  Then I attach to that belief that God’s plan includes the resurrection and our forgiveness an promise of eternal life. When you have already had so many birthdays as I have had and live in a retirement community, you know about life ending. As I hold onto the principle of Easter, I rejoice. I set aside all fears and worry about death. That is freeing to me and uplifting every day.
